U2start torrents
Overview filter Torrent status icons
Welcome to the U2start torrent pages. The purpose of this section is the purpose of this website in general: to share our passion.
Using torrents we will be able to share mainly large media files (like DVD's and lossless shows) without having to deal with
other hosting services. We only deal with U2 fans here, and that's a good thing! Feel free to look around, and also have a look at
our help and info pages.
To make life of fans easier other torrents from popular sites are also listed. Torrents from our friends at U2Torrents and dimeadozen.org are also listed. To download those you will need a U2Torrents or DIME account. Note: Below results are cached, data is refreshed every 10 minutes.
On this page we display various statistics, that differ from the most active torrents to the most active users.
Most active torrentsThe most active torrents, based on the number of seeders.
Top sharersTop number of sharers, based on the upload vs download ratio.
Top uploadersTop number of uploaders, based on the total uploaded data.
Top downloadersTop number of downloaders, based on the total downloaded data.
Please read the rules before adding a torrent. Violation of the rules may result in a ban.
We are of course glad to answer any questions you might have in our forums,
you can also read our help and info tab.
Fan-content onlyOfficially released content is not allowed. We will warn you when you try to upload shows that are known to be released officially. Only ignore the warning if you are absolutely sure. Shows that are officialy released are only allowed when they are not professionaly recorded. So TV/radio broadcasts, soundboards, IEMs are not allowed in this case. Audience sources are. The crew may still decide to ban the recording if they feel it's necessary. Please don't break these rules, we won't hesitate to warn users or take other appropiate actions like banning on user and IP level for both the tracker and website. Quality requirementsAll lossless recordings are allowed. In some cases lossy recordings are accepted aswell. We encourage users to post other lossy recordings on the forums, so that our staff can add them to our ordinary database.
Tagging is not requirement but very much encouraged.Personally we think the best way is to tag using u2gigs official setlist. But again, do as you wish. Share, don't leechYou start with 10GB credit. After this the ratio system will kick in to make sure this site can exist. You need to have a ratio of at least 0.4. This means you can roughly download 5 bootlegs for each 2 you've uploaded! If your ratio is too low, you can't download any torrents. At this point we can't do anything for you. So avoid being in this situation A way out are free leech torrents. They are marked orange in the listings.Even with a low ratio you can download a free leech torrent. And the best is that only your upload counts. So with a free leech torrent your ratio can only go up! Torrent clients that don't follow protocol will be banned. Please make sure you use a proper client Be niceThis is a community. Don't start bitching about the quality of stuff. You are not forced to download anything. Also don't play the moderator. We decide what is banned and what not. We encourage users to report bogus or illegal uploads to our crew.
What is BitTorrent?
BitTorrent protocol allows users to distribute large amounts of data without the heavy demands on their computers that would be needed for standard Internet hosting. A standard host's servers can easily be brought to a halt if high levels of simultaneous data flow are reached. The protocol works as an alternative data distribution method that makes even small computers (e.g. mobile phones) with low bandwidth capable of participating in large data transfers. First, a user playing the role of file-provider makes a file available to the network. This first user's file is called a seed and its availability on the network allows other users, called peers, to connect and begin to download the seed file. As new peers connect to the network and request the same file, their computer receives a different piece of the data from the seed. Once multiple peers have multiple pieces of the seed, BitTorrent allows each to become a source for that portion of the file. The effect of this is to take on a small part of the task and relieve the initial user, distributing the file download task among the seed and many peers. With BitTorrent, no one computer needs to supply data in quantities which could jeopardize the task by overwhelming all resources, yet the same final result—each peer eventually receiving the entire file—is still reached. After the file is successfully and completely downloaded by a given peer, the peer is able to shift roles and become an additional seed, helping the remaining peers to receive the entire file. This eventual shift from peers to seeders determines the overall 'health' of the file (as determined by the number of times a file is available in its complete form). How does it work? To use the torrent section you will need a BitTorrent Client. We recommend µTorrent for Windows or Transmission for Linux. Most other clients are compatible as well. If you have a torrent client installed you can start downloading bootlegs by opening the .torrent file you download from the torrent section. The .torrent files contain information about the files and the tracker needed to start downloading. What are (private) trackers? Every peer connects to the tracker. Using the data it accumulates the tracker can respond with the addresses of other peers. With this information peers can connect to others. The difference between public and private trackers is that you need an account for a private tracker. The account is used to measure your ratio. About the ratio In the context of BitTorrent the ratio is defined as the ratio amount you have uploaded and the amount you have downloaded. The ratio can be used to restrict the amount of leechers by banning members with low ratio. Connectable BitTorrent is a peer to peer protocol. One peer (the server) initiates a connection to another (the client). This is only possible if the client is connectable. If your computer is behind a firewall or an incorrectly configured router other can't connect to you. Thus it is harder to maintain your ratio. For help configuring your router or firewall to allow incoming connections see Portforward.com
In this section we will help you to get up and running quickly. So that you can enjoy the bootlegs shared as fast as possible.
Installing a torrent client You will need a torrent client to download shows from this section. As we recommend µTorrent, we will show you how to download and install this client.
Leeching and Seeding The BitTorrent system is based on giving and taking. You are downloading, called leeching, directly from other members, who give you the opportunity to listen to great bootlegs. So its all about sharing! This is the reason that you are also uploading (seeding) while downloading a torrent. To give back what someone gave you! Most torrent clients will let torrents upload even when you are finished downloading. To help other people out. If you want to know more about sharing, we strongly recommend you to have a look at the Help and Info tab. Since there are certain rules you need to know so that we can happily share stuff with each other! Playback of bootlegs When the torrent has finished downloading you can start enjoying the bootleg by opening it into your favourite media player! if there are any issues have a look at the Help pages of our site! |
