By the way, my granfather owns a Gibson, but I don't know which model is it. It looks pretty much like a Les Paul, but it's not a LP. All I can remember is the name begins with an "A" (Alison? Armoris? Artonise? )... Anybody knows what is it?
The pickups don't appear to all be factory. They should also have pickup covers.
That said, the small switches between the tone and volume knobs appear to be alterations too. Might be for coil tapping. Might be some effect that was later built into it? But the lil switches to not appear to be factory issue.
The inlay work on the Artisan's live up to their name. Gorgeous guitars.
It IS a Les Paul. It is a Les Paul Artisan. they were made between 1976 and 1982.
If you get the serial number (on the back of the headstock) I can tell you exactly what vintage it is, date, and factory it came out of.
(Gibson's being made in Kalamazoo, MI and Nashville, TN during 1976-1982)
ARTISAN!! That's it... You kicked my ass very hard, your guitar knowledge is absolutely astonishing
BTW thank you all for saying how beautiful it is Indeed, it is gorgeous And... I think it's going to be my NEXT guitar, since my grandfa is going to quit soon of playing live, and I think I'll receive some of his musical stuff...
This is me with that beautiful LP Artisan:
And this is my Hoffner VeryThin Standard back to back with the Artisan.... Which is better?
Lovely guitar, it sounds really great... Moreover, I thought I had never played a Les Paul Now I can say that I almost OWN a Les Paul

The Artisan looks great. They were only made for 6 years. So while it might not be worth the same as a 1958-1960 LP, it will appreciate in value as there were not too many made.
I'd love to HEAR the thing. Sound clips?
And ask your Grandfather what the smaller switches do. Again, I don't think they are factory issue, which might hurt the value of the guitar but if it sounds and plays great... then that is all that really matters.
After all Andy Summers (the Police) Tele was bought with LOADS of aftermarket work and because HE played it... it's worth tons! (As are the Fender reissues of his Tele)
And like I said, if you send me the serial number, on the back of the headstock, I can tell you yet MORE about your lovely Artisan.
PS - The Hofner may not be a vintage Strat or Les Paul but they have plenty of "vibe" and "character". Certainly a cool and I'd guess, pretty fun guitar to play.

LOVE the inlays in the neck. Beauty!
Thanks for all the info and feedback. Very indeed, there are sound clips I'll post here a few if I find the time now...

Very indeed Moreover, it looks pretty similar to Bono's Joshua Gibson ES-335 (that gorgeous red guitar). I mean it's virtually the same guitar with different brand

Ha, between the Artisan and the Hofner, that IS a tough call. You m'man, are a lucky bastard lol. Value-wise, there's no doubt a big difference BUT they both look fantastic.

That's the point.
PS. I'm uploading some audio clips which I played a few ago. Some of them were played with the Artisan, some were not... But they all were played by me

Look forward to it! I'm intending to stick a couple of covers on when an opportunity knocks, probably UTEOTW now that I have my LP lol
I want to do WGRYWH but I need to piss about with the backing track I have so that I can create space for the Vertigo style solo. The Fly, WOWY and something else - anyone know of a BT for One Tree Hill?
